About Alex

Alex Harrison is a guitarist who has made music his career for over 25 years — and a teacher who still plays for a living.

A graduate of Humber College's Jazz Performance program (honours) — Humber is widely regarded as one of the most respected music schools in North America — Alex has performed in theatres and concert venues across Canada, on cruise ships, and at weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations of every size. He is currently the lead guitarist in four of Canada's top tribute acts — The British Invasion ('60s British rock: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks), Forever Seger — The Silver Bullet Experience (Bob Seger), The Linda Ronstadt Show — Her Songs, Her Story, and Elton Lammie's Billy Joel tribute, "My Life" — and his earlier tribute production work includes shows celebrating David Bowie, Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, and The Beatles. He's also the lead guitarist in Steenburg Assembly, a purely improvised project — they recorded three albums in a single weekend — with the music streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms.

That range is what he brings to teaching. Whether your goal is strumming your first campfire song, playing in a band, or improvising over jazz standards, Alex has played it professionally — and can show you how it's actually done, not just how it looks in a book.

Alex teaches privately from his home studio in Hespeler, Cambridge, and performs live with the jazz duo Velvet Union.
